From Italy to Japan
by Gregory Wilde  /  poetry  /  17 Oct 2008

When I screwed up, wept
Into your face,
I tried to run, tried to hide;
Ran to Italy, swam to Japan.
Undercover man of mystery,
You stood and waited for me.

From Japan, I cried and wrote,
Bought you a hat and coat,
Leather from Kyoto,
Joss sticks from Tokyo.
Undercover man of sadness, I was.
You stood and waited for me.

And I care for you, I really do.
I love you more than life itself.
I love you more than blood.
I made a mistake in my life, that you know.
All my dreams were your soul.
Undercover man of mystery,
You stood by me.

In the boat, sinking on land,
From Italy to Japan.
Impossible to reach you, lying on truth,
I've drowned, and am looking for you.
Undercover man of mystery,
You stood nowhere to be seen.
