Cardinal Joy

when the obvious cardinal
comes flying down
to the purple magenta
coffee table

and when you leave
the babies in the dark
you're smiling too loud

stillness overcomes you
you lie naked all night
in the flooded pillows
of casual joys
do we have a cardinal to fly over the coffee table

collections of cold air
the heat
jumps from city to city
watch the cardinal dream
fly above the endless sky
do you see him
flying on by
